The artist duo MÄRYLAND presents works in the exhibition *Sound of Silence*. Here, ceramics and painting meet, inspired by the forms and expressions of a shared kinship. Märyland’s work is rooted in nature and the shifting moods and temperaments of the landscape. Color, light, and contrast converge—in sculptural forms and on the canvas. Fleeting moments and sequences are grounded in the unpredictable and the surprising. Maria Zetterstrand’s work breathes stillness and contemplation. Her sculptural pieces and installations emerge from an intuitive creative process. The theme is existence. She draws inspiration from clay— coarse dark clay and sheer, delicate porcelain clay—as well as light, darkness, and the interplay of shifting shadows across surfaces. Nature is a constant presence, offering subtle shifts in the familiar. She creates ceramic objects that seem to possess a will of their own— petrified finds that are, at the same time, animated natural formations. Maria holds a Master of Fine Arts from Konstfack in Stockholm, and her work is represented in collections such as the Norrköping Art Museum, Uppsala Municipality, and the Höganäs Museum, among others.

Maria Rosén works with the rapid energy of acrylics, typically taking landscapes as her starting point. Abstractions and observations blend with the shifting moods and fragments of the natural world—revealing distinct traces and memories of both inner and outer landscapes. Darkness and a deep, resonant power allow the light to filter through. Maria studied at institutions including the Gerlesborg School of Fine Art and is represented by Galleri Helle Knudsen in Stockholm and Gallery GKA in Gothenburg; her work is also held in the collections of the Norrköping Art Museum and the Uppsala County Council.
