Sverker Eklund
I am a painter/sculptor who works with wood.
Since the 90s I have worked with themes such as ”My girl”, horses, boxers, cows, and calves.
I paint with egg oil tempera, tar and gold leaf 24 carats. I use different types of wood, for example oak, birch, alder and linden. I use hand tools, axe, saw, wooden mallet and chisel.
For me, wood is a sensual, living, lustful and earthy material. So are also my themes. My work is perhaps a way of anchoring myself in an increasingly changing world.
As a child, I spent all my summer holidays on a farm in Bohuslän.
I trained boxing as a young boy.
My girl sculptures are inspired by my two daughters, and their play with dolls and princesses.
