Emma Linde & Karin Gustavsson Accompanying – Following Up – Seeing Through

In the exhibition *Följas åt – Följa upp – Fullfölja* (Accompanying – Following Up – Seeing Through), Emma Linde and Karin Gustavsson reflect on the meanings of the verb “to follow”—moving along a path or trajectory taken by someone else, or moving together with someone. The exhibition presents individual works alongside a shared “process table” where their explorations of materials and techniques converge. Emma Linde and Karin Gustavsson met while studying Textile Art at HDK-Valand. Over the years, their artistic expressions have evolved side by side—like two parallel threads in a warp braid that sometimes cross, sometimes run alongside one another, and occasionally drift in different directions, yet always move toward the same goal: storytelling through textile materials. For this exhibition, Emma Linde has explored how the craft of bobbin lace-making can serve as a form of artistic expression and contribute to a deeper understanding of our textile history. Karin Gustavsson has investigated which objects carry a person’s story. What do the traces we leave behind—in the form of objects—reveal about us? This process has given rise to several structures resembling houses, each featuring distinct material textures.
